Grant Bentley

Miasms – Soul and Survival

Grant BentleyAbstract
Since 1999 the Victorian College of Classical Homœopathy (VCCH) has explored Hahnemann’s miasm theory and in conjunction with the physical observations made by J.H. Allen and H. Roberts, developed a methodology based on facial analysis that is clinically reproducible. Eight years later the subsequent diagnostic method has resulted in a dramatic increase in patient success rates and the important collection of social science information.

Homœopathic Facial Analysis (HFA) offers Homœopathy

  • The ability to achieve consistent results with chronic disease for between 75 and 90% of patients without the ten or more years Kent stated the new practitioner needed to become proficient.
  • Case taking, case analysis, facial analysis and case management become the prime objectives of study and practice, rather than rote learning or interpretative learning of materia medica.
  • A method that is soundly based on the observable rather than the subjective, embracing all that science demands; knowledge that can be applied systematically, derived from clinical research

The foundation of this methodology is the ability to analyse facial structure to determine the dominant miasm.

Science has two branches – natural and social. Homœopathy is unique because it incorporates both. VCCH researched facial structure in relation to miasms, demonstrating the genetic link between the two and fulfilling the requirements of natural science; while hundreds of patient interviews classified by facial structure, added to the knowledge of social science.

HFA adheres to scientific methodology based on observable phenomena, ongoing experimentation and clinical validity.

HFA incorporates the following principles

  • Law of similars
  • Totality of symptoms
  • Infinitesimal dose
  • Proving of remedies
  • Dominant miasm
  • External structure representing internal force
  • Repertorisation
  • Case management assessed by homeostasis

HFA has the capacity to standardize the profession through the implementation of a consistent methodology and the delivery of reproducible clinical results, bringing Homœopathy into the 21st century and fulfilling the contemporary expectations of science.

Understanding a miasm as an immune response rather than a result of disease means a more modern and complete system emerges, that complements current scientific knowledge rather than competes with it.

Biography
Grant Bentley is the principal and senior lecturer of the Victorian College of Classical Homœopathy.

Since 1999 he has researched the genetic link between Hahnemann’s miasm theory (1828) and facial structure and written three books

  • Appearance and Circumstance (2003)
  • Homœopathic Facial Analysis (2006)
  • Untitled (Aug 2008)

This research and development resulted in a new clinical method called Homœopathic Facial Analysis (HFA). His third book (August 2008) presents clinical findings in relation to social science aspects of miasms and facial analysis.

Grant has lectured in Australia, New Zealand, the Middle East, USA and Europe. His first two books have been translated into Russian.
