Michelle Hookham
Michelle has a background in general and mental health nursing. She studied homoeopathy at the London College of Classical Homoeopathy and now practices in Dural in a multidisciplinary clinic. She is committed to helping people achieve a level of health where they are no longer dependent on any medicine or therapy. Homoeopathy in mental health is an area of special interest. Michelle would like to be a part of a vibrant community where homoeopaths work together towards a common goal – professional excellence and public recognition.
Maryanne Logan
Maryanne is a Sydney based homeopath who has a practice in Brookvale at the Bikram Yoga centre. When she is not in Brookvale, she works in her family business which distributes a wide range of products nationally into pharmacies and health food stores. Maryanne works for Providence in both Lewisham and on the northern beaches and hopes to be useful within the AHA to help Homeopathy to become better known, better understood and better respected in Australia.
Christine Pope
Christine Pope has been in practice for two years, after graduating with an Advanced Diploma of Homoeopathy (2005) and a Diploma of Nutrition (2006) from Naturecare College. Her practice is based on educating people about Homoeopathy and how it can be used to treat a range of health conditions. Christine has been involved in running Homoeopathic First Aid Workshops at St Ives as well as participating in Workshops on a number of other health conditions with practitioners at the practice.
Christine's previous career was in Finance, predominantly in Financial Analysis and Training. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce and has worked for 15 years in banking as well as spending a further 2 years in Venture Capital. To have a treasurer with this background is a real asset for the AHA.
Vicki Kennedy
Vicki graduated with a Diploma in Homoeopathy from the Victorian College of Classical Homoeopathy. She now has a private practice in Pymble. Vicki has been on the AHA(NSW) branch committee for seven years and runs the office in Drummoyne. She has served as Treasurer and contributed extensively to professional seminars in NSW. Vicki's corporate memory is invaluable and her focus on continually improving member services helps regeneration. Vicki is currently on the steering committee for the National Homoeopathic Medicine Conference in 2008.
Shashi Reddy
Shashi completed her homeopathic training in NZ with the Bay of Plenty College of Homeopathy. After graduation, she worked at a homeopathic pharmacy, while establishing her own private practice. Shashi migrated to Australia 2 years ago, registered with AROH & AHA, and is currently practising homeopathy at Fivedock, Sydney.
"I find the level of awareness of homeopathy in the general population, given the population size of Sydney, to be low when compared to countries like NZ and India. I would like to see a change which is why I joined the AHA. Any ideas / feedback from members are most welcome."
Sally Absalom
Sally opened her clinic (Illawarra Centre of Homoeopathic Medicine) in Wollongong in 2001 after graduating from Sydney College of Homoeopathic Medicine in 2000. The clinic has gone from strength to strength in Balgownie (a suburb of Wollongong) and to this day is open 6 days a week and has 5 practitioners each with different modalities. This is her 2nd stint on the AHA Committee, the first for 3 years as Secretary. She rejoins the committee this year in the hope that she can offer some help leading up to the National Conference in 2008. Sally's background is Real Estate and still works as an Agent in Sales in Wollongong.
Helen McGuire
Graduating from the Sydney College of Homoeopathic Medicine in 2003, Helen works out of a mixed clinic in Thirroul. She also works in a Providence clinic in a community-based women¹s health centre in the Illawarra. In 2007 Helen spent three weeks at Dr Parimal Banerji¹s clinic in Kolkata, India. Her
background is in community work. She has been a previous editor of the NSW branch newsletter and has a keen interest in the mentoring and supervision programme.
Sherryn McCarthy
Sherryn completed her homoeopathic training at Nature Care College in 2005 and is currently practising out of a multi-modality clinic in Balgowlah. Sherryn is excited to be joining the Committee for the first time this year and is looking forward to making a contribution to the important efforts of the AHA to raise awareness of homoeopathy in the community and to support homeopaths in their work.
Tjok Kerthyasa
Tjok (pronounced 'choc') graduated in 2006 with an Advanced Diploma of Homoeopathy from ACNT and a Bachelor of Health Science Homoeopathy from UNE. After establishing his practice in the multidisciplinary Blues Point Practice at McMahons Point it became evident that awareness of homeopathy in the greater community was lacking. It was this fact that has driven Tjok to become a more active member of the homoeopathic association in Sydney. Hailing from Bali, Tjok also conducts homoeopathic clinics there a few times in the year and is currently in the process of having homoeopathy officially recognised by the Indonesian government and developing a pilot hospital ward dedicated to homeopathic medicine. Tjok has a background in hospitality management and is one of the foremest authorities on tea in Australia, acting as tea master to the Observatory Hotel, Sydney.
Vaishali Shah
Vaishali graduated from Y.M.T Medical College in 1998 with a Diploma in Homoeopathic Medicine and Surgery. She also did her Post Graduation in Homeopathic clinical training (2 yrs) with the Institute of Clinical Research, Mumbai (India). She was the Assistant Homoeopathic Physician at the Dr. M L Dhawale Rural Homoeopathic Hospital (Palghar) in the Screening and Gastro-intestinal department for 4 years and had her private clinical practice for 7 years before shifting to Sydney. With keen interest in understanding the cause and effect and the role of psyche in health and illness, she further trained in Psychology (M. Sc in Psych) and Counseling and practiced as a counseling Psychologist for the past 2 years. She currently practices in Sydney city.
Vaishali wishes to promote the principles and benefits of Homoeopathy to be a leading therapy of choice. |
